The functions, duties and powers of the Council shall be as follows:-
(a) To observe the policy related to journalism from time to time and suggest to the Government of Nepal after consulting the opinion of the relevant field (B) Prepare and implement a code of ethics related to journalism to develop healthy journalism (c) To give suggestions to the Government of Nepal for the development of journalism (d) To keep up-to-date records of the distribution status of journalism,
(e) If someone complains to the council about the matter related to the news published in the newspaper, take necessary action in that regard.
(f) To submit an annual report to the Government of Nepal, including study and evaluation of the activities and conditions of the newspaper, and
(g) Investigate anti-social and objectionable things published in newspapers.
